Once users are logged in to openiris.io, certain providers become accessible. There are essentially three ways of getting access to a provider:
Some institutions grant their users access to their providers by default. Other providers might be public and accessible by all users.
Providers that are not accessible publically, can allow for individual access requests by interested users.
Finally, there are some communications channels for public providers to request access, which is explained in the following sections.
Note: provider access does not necessairily mean access to its resources. Resource access is explained on its dedicated page.

When browsing providers Browse > Providers
, access request can be made by clicking on the icon. Or click on and click the Request Access
. This will produce the dialog shown in the screenshot bellow.
The provider-administrator will be notified by email (and Admin > Inbox
).

The user can check on the request in the Dashboard > Inbox
. The request will appear as a row with the Type
cell containing Provider access
.
If the request was already processes, make sure to uncheck Hide closed/discontinued/rejected items
in order to see the row of a processed request as well.

If access request are disabled, or for other enquirements, users can use the contact request to communicate with the provider-administrator.
